Everything starts with us, we are humans. Human errors are the cause of faults in security, our mistakes affect everything in many different ways. According to ISACA “The literature available to date on the human factor in security/cybersecurity often refers to raising awareness, training, and education—all subjects associated with the “education” of individuals in an effort to protect information.” We all learn in different ways coming into the cybersecurity field in order to protect security and do our job. When we mess up within the system a lot of things can be breached and put the systems at risk of cybersecurity threats. I would balance between training and new technology by having monthly training and tests to make sure everyone is prepared to make no mistakes that could jeopardize our systems. The reason is that nowadays technology is getting more advanced and we need to know everything about it and how to fix it when things go wrong. With that being said, training every month and tests are going to be a repetitive thing so everyone stays on top of their job. According to Jeff Capone, “ Removing people from the equation entirely and adding transparency and automation is the only effective way to truly protect and prevent data leaks and ensure you’re in compliance. There is simply no other solution.” I agree with this because it is in fact true. This isn’t possible as of right now though, even though human error is the main thing that happens all the time, do we really want to turn to technology to resolve everything? I believe that human error not only affects security but it also helps us learn and provides our systems to develop more. We as humans make mistakes but that shouldn’t mean we should give up and turn to technology, we will make our systems better alongside technology.
