SPAN 102

Exploring Culture

Products that helped me understand cultural perspectives is the textbook, doing cultural modules in every unit shows me how different and same it is in Spanish speaking countries.

One thing I learned is that in Spanish speaking cultures family is a big topic to talk about. If you have a friend they would ask you how is your family doing and try to keep up to date with it. It is also somewhat similar to Asian culture.

Engaging in Communities

It is important to engage in your community because everyone may have a different background and view if a situation as you. Learning about different perspectives in life may help each other grow as a community.

Interpersonal Communication

TalkAbroad was fun and also nerve wrenching. After the first few minutes, it is really easy and fun. Talking to someone from a different country and also with their backgrounds, you can get to know a lot of things about their culture. It helps you cement topics you learn in class also.

Presentational Speaking

A speaking activity is when presenting our projects we made at the end of the units.

Presentational Writing

Writings that we did are some units at the end is also projects for example the mental / physical health project where we have to write down and explain what is about.

Interpretive Listening

Listening actives are such as listening to people’s job applications in the text book.

Interpretive Reading

Reading actives such as reading paragraphs about how people in other countries spend their free time.
