My name is Gerlisa Hicks and I am currently a student at ODU. I am majoring in Media Studies and minoring in English. My goal is to graduate with my Bachelor’s degree in this major/minor and hope to receive a well-paying job in journalism. I hope to write articles on important topics in order to educate others and also provide entertainment to keep a balance of content with my viewers.

I am born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, and currently reside here. I am an avid fan of writing as in my downtime, I enjoy writing short stories or any ideas that come to mind. I mostly find inspiration to write these stories on social media, TV, and any other sources that display news or current events. When writing, I mostly aim for being light-hearted to provide comfort to my readers. Furthermore, other than writing, I find a joy in reading. For me, reading is fundamental. Almost everyday, I am reading. Whether that is an article, a book, or a social media post. By doing this, I learn new things or expand my knowledge. My favorite type of books to read are mysteries, drama, and occasionally romance.
