My specific research interest is student perceptions of United States dentists and dental hygienists on the utilization of internationally trained dentists and oral preventive assistants practicing dental hygiene in the United States to address the dental hygiene workforce shortage. This issue is becoming more prevalent as the American Dental Association has passed resolutions encouraging states to adopt these alternative dental hygiene providers with less training and education in dental hygiene care to practice dental hygiene in the United States for convenience, production, and cost efficiency.
