The major I am currently pursuing is Nursing.

• Why I chose Nursing: Until my junior year of high school, I had not decided what career I wanted to go into. I had thought about Nursing, but I was unsure if I was a good fit for it. This all changed, though, when my grandfather was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), a terminal form of cancer. His battle with this disease only lasted for a month, and in that month, he experienced many forms of treatment and caretaking. Most of his battle took place inside of a hospital room, one factor of it standing out: the nurses. The nurses that took care of him helped to make him feel comfortable and to keep him in good spirits. It was through this experience that I realized I wanted to become a nurse in order to help other people in need, like these nurses helped my grandfather.
• Current experience: I currently have no experience, but I am planning to find volunteer opportunities in the near future.
