My intended major is Dental Hygiene. I chose this major/career because I’ve always had questions about teeth and gums. I genetically have weak gums and teeth so I have to take extra steps into my hygiene routine than others. I had many cavities when I was younger causing my family to struggle more with dental care costs when we were financially unstable. I do not want this happening to others, I want to do a good job in teaching younger generations and adults how to properly take care of their teeth and hope to prevent avoidable cavities. 

I do not have any experience in the dental hygiene field at the moment but I do have a radiation safety certification. I am also planning to shadow a dentist this winter break if possible.
