Based on the NICE Workforce Framework, I would want to focus my career on either “Investigating” or “Protect and Defending” while “Collect and Operating” is an area that appeals to me the least.
“Investigating” is something that I find very enjoyable. I love puzzles and analyzing details to scope out how to solve problems. By focusing on this area, I might be given the chance to investigate breaches and hacks and figure out how to recover stolen data. “Protecting and Defending” would give me the opportunity to actively protect systems from threats. This sounds very thrilling and would keep me on my toes. I like to experiment and this area possibly allows me to penetration test and find weaknesses in a computer.
The area that least appeals to me is “Collect and Operating”. This area consists of gathering and managing cybersecurity data. In my opinion, this does not sound the most enjoyable as it is mostly focused on gathering data and not on actively protecting systems from threats. An area that focuses on using data to form hypotheses and form a solution would better suit me.
