Entering college, I found myself navigating through different fields, unsure of where my
passion lay. Nursing seemed promising initially, but my time as a CNA revealed my aversion to
blood. (I passed out after watching the nurse prick the patient\u2019s finger for their blood sugar.)
Transitioning to computer science, I soon realized that coding around the clock wasn’t my forte.
However, amidst this exploration, I discovered cybersecurity, a realm where investigation and
puzzle-solving thrive. It’s the challenge that drew me in, the thrill of unraveling complex systems
and fortifying defenses. My aspiration to become a penetration tester stems from my interest in
tough puzzles waiting to be cracked. I envision a future where I legally breach systems to bolster
their security measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To pave the path towards this goal, I am currently enrolled in Old Dominion University’s
cybersecurity program, actively engaging in internships. One involves assisting micro-businesses
in Hampton Roads with their cybersecurity posture, while the other, entails developing a
prototype of my team\u2019s choice to enhance cybersecurity education. Additionally, I serve as a
mentor to a high school student aspiring to pursue cybersecurity and am diligently preparing for
the CompTIA Security+ 701 examination. While my journey through various fields in college
may have seemed uncertain at first, it ultimately led me to discover my true interest in
cybersecurity. The challenge of unraveling digital mysteries and fortifying defenses drives me
forward. As I embark on this path, I am committed to honing my skills and knowledge through
academic pursuits, hands-on experiences, and mentorship. With each step, I am one step closer to
realizing my dream of becoming a penetration tester, where I can contribute to the protection of
