End of the Semester Reflection

Over the course of this semester I have grown academically and personally in many ways. I have pushed myself to do my absolute best to achieve my desired grades, I have learned how to manage my time, and I have learned how to handle the stress of my assignments. I had very high expectations that I thought would come along with being in college, I thought I would have no time to do anything other than classwork. However, I found ways to manage my time in order to take time to do things for me. The semester was not as hard as I thought it would be except right now, during exam week. Overall, the professors have been super supportive and helpful in ways that high school teachers did not offer. One thing I wish I knew at the beginning of the semester would have to be that the professors want to see you succeed and will help you achieve the grade you think you should have.

My study habits have slightly changed over these past 14 weeks in order to better my academic success. I will now try to get done as much schoolwork as I can for the week on Monday nights. That way I do not have as much to stress about the rest of the week. I typically spend 2 hours a night on homework and most of that time is spent on chemistry and history. Next semester, I will make sure to use the student success centers as much as I can. I did not use them as much as I should have this semester because I have never been the type of person to ask for help, but that is what they are there for. I will continue to use my habits and techniques next semester that I did this semester because I have found a way that works best for me.

Being part of the Learning Community allowed me to gain a different perspective on the subject we were covering from each teacher. For example, my sociology class and history class were very connected due to the material they talked about overlapped each other. In history class we had to do research on a chosen topic throughout the semester and some of those topics students got assigned to do their sociology project on. Having these connections between the classes allowed me to obtain a better grasp of the material because I was doing different research on the same topic. I attended most of the Learning Community events and felt as if the Meet and Greet helped me the most. The Meet and Greet allowed me to meet peers that would be in most of my classes, be informed on the other fields and jobs that could benefit us, and receive input from teachers and other students who have been through the nursing program. I made some friends from the meet and greet that I still talk to and receive help from on assignments I am confused by.
