Final Reflection
When I first got to college I was prepared but I wasn’t quite sure how much work it would be. I knew it was going to be harder than high school but that’s all I knew. I think I’ve grown so much as a person since the beginning of the semester because I learned how to be successful on my own for the first time. Being away from home and not having my mom to lean back on really put everything on me and I learned how to do it by myself. I expected to learn a lot about myself and society around me. I expected for my first semester to gradually get me adjusted to college life and being independent, and it did. I wish I knew in the beginning how easy it is just to go get help in any tutoring because it’s okay to struggle in a topic and need that extra help. I finally just started going to Chemistry tutoring when I should have been going in the first place.
At the beginning of the semester I wasn’t studying that frequently and I think that affected my exam grades. Now I study a lot more than I did and I’m starting to see myself learning more material. The other day I went to the Chemistry tutoring room and got help with homework for lecture and lab and it was very helpful. I will be going back during the last two weeks of the semester and getting as much help as I need until my final exam. Going into next semester, I will force myself to go over notes, powerpoints, and homework after my classes so I can review material I just learned to help me remember information better. I think this will impact my grades in a positive way and keep everything fresh.
This semester I was enrolled in Sociology, Chemistry, Chem Lab, and Health 101. These classes tied together throughout the semester because they all talked about the healthcare field and all the different ways these subjects are used in healthcare. For example in Sociology we talked about the different groups of people in society and how people communicate. This relates to healthcare because as a healthcare worker we meet new people everyday and need people skills in order to complete our tasks at a hospital or doctor’s office or wherever we get employed. My favorite event was when we had a zoom meeting with the nursing program instructors. I enjoyed learning about the program I could possibly be joining in a year. I am also looking forward to the paint night coming up!
