Parallel Major

My parallel major would be a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education.  I would want this as my parallel major because in high school I was part of a club called YoungLife Capernaum, that what centered around students with special needs.  I was president of the club my junior and senior year of high school and have always thought about doing something that involved special needs kids. A career that I can pursue with this major is a Special Education teacher.  I would help kids with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities in school and create a learning environment catered to their needs. I could work in private or public schools and helps parents with their students progress.   An interesting fact about this major is that there is an increasing demand for Special Education teachers. To gain professional experiences to learn more about this I could shadow other Special Education teachers as they teach or I could ask to interview a Special Education teacher to get to know more about the profession. Additional classes I would have to take are Oral Communication, College Algebra and College Algebra with Supplemental Instruction, a Nature of Science: Biological Sciences class, and a Nature of Science: Physical Sciences class.  The advisor for this major for me would be Ms. Jordana Roberto.
