Reflection
In Spanish 101 I realized I had an hard time remembering the correct words to use and when. This semester I associated each word the best I could to easily remember it quickly. One weakness I have is still listening to Spanish and converting the words in my head. I can easily read it as it is written but hearing it is still a challenge I need to overcome. I continue to listen to Spanish and read the subtitles of videos to help me quickly convert the language to my own.

I have read on the culture in the text book for class and have learned a lot of how the culture differs from my own. We make many different foods and have a different fashion sense. I also realize some of my values are different from their own. Reading gave me a closer look into different persons life and made me realize how different and how non-different we can be. I believe we all make stereotypes since we are human and I am happy that a lot of mine diminished from learning another culture and becoming educated on it.
Engaging in Communities
One of my very close friends was born in Mexico and while walking into her household it felt as if I was in a different world. The way her family decorated and spoke was so different from what I was normally use to. They were extremely warm and welcoming and treated me as family very quickly. She had to translate for her parents which was an barrier in communicating but we still enjoyed our time together regardless of the language barrier. The food they offered was very different from what I am use to but I am happy I tried everything they gave me because it was absolutely amazing.
Interpersonal Communication
I have talked to many other people who spoke in a different language using things as google translate to communicate with them properly in the past. Now with some experience in Spanish I can communicate in basic talk with friends who do not speak English fluently. I have been able to listen to audio and after many tries understand what is said and learn how to respond and write a sentence accordingly.
Presentational Writing
In Spanish 102 we had two compositions to write. VHL activates included multiple areas where we needed to write multiple sentences for an area also. I have grown tremendously in writing Spanish and it becoming easier with every paragraph I have had to write. At first I struggled with putting words in the proper place and accidently wrote them as we write in English. After much practice it is much easier for me to write properly now. I think with more practice I can become even better in writing.
Interpretive Listening
On VHL we have many listening activities and while it is difficult for me to understand people speaking normally the activities have helped me tremendously. We also did listening practice while in class. While it was a challenge and will continue to be along with writing I believe if I keep practicing it will become easier over time and hard work. I sometimes would listen multiple times and try my best to understand the first 2 times. Speaking slowly I can understand well but the activates where they spoke quickly is still a challenge to me.
Interpretive Reading
In class we read and responded to questions. In VHL and the textbook we had almost always had to read long sentences or paragraphs. I struggled with some words more than others but eventually studied enough to get it right. Each assignment allowed me to keep doing my best and to learn from each mistake I had made. I practiced writing by hand also so I was not only use to typing sentences and words.
