Assignment 4

For assignment 4 I reviewed two different journal articles on obesity in among children. I chose two different articles to compare China to the United States. After finishing the assignment I learned that the rate of obesity in children is much higher in the United States than in China. I never knew the United States had such a problem with childhood obesity until I did this assignment. This assignment was relevant to me because I live in North America where we have the highest rate for child obesity. The information I learned in this assignment can also be helpful to me in the future since I want to work with children.

Assignment 3

Assignment three really helped me understand how beneficial it can be to travel to a different country. Not only is it fun to travel but it can also be a very big learning experience. Traveling to a different country can help you better understand the culture of a different country and new ways of living.

Last July I took a trip to England and Italy. The trip really opened my eyes to how different the culture is in a different country. I never knew I could learn so much in just on trip. 

I chose a picture of my trip of Italy. After traveling to a different country the importance of traveling has become a lot more important to me. 

Assignment 1

This assignment really helped me understand the importance of intercultural sensitivity in my career choice. It is important for me as i become a social worker to be able to understand and respect the importance of all different cultural practices.

Having cross-cultural awareness is helpful when understanding the issues of an individual. Social workers are likely to encounter individuals with different beliefs, ideas, or traditions which is why it is so important to be aware of the differences.

I chose this picture to show how diverse the United States is. It is also important to be culturally aware because people of all different cultures are among us every day.
