No matter what culture you are from everyone has a way of expressing their emotions whether it is happy, sad, scared, or even angry. I have had an opportunity to recognize how people from different cultures display their emotions differently from Americans. By working at a restaurant with an Italian chef, I noticed how he expresses his emotions a little different than I do. I have noticed he expresses his emotions very strongly whether it is something that makes him happy or really mad. He is very open with his emotions and doesn’t ever try to hide them. These behaviors were similar to my expectations since I have been around Italian people before. I have noticed that the way he displays his emotions are very similar to other Italian people I know. This would relate to cultural display rules, which are cultural norms learned at a young age that influence the way you display emotions.

Blog 6
The self-determination theory is about motivation which is something you need in order to do well academically. This semester requires more self-determination than any other semester as all of my classes are online.
Competence is the ability to control the outcome of a task. In order to control the outcome of things such as test and quiz grades I take notes, highlight important sentences, and study the material.
Autonomy is the desire to control ones own behaviors and goals. The reason I have the determination to do well in school is because I want to make a good life for myself. I want to be able to get the best job possible when I graduate college and I can make they possible with a college degree. This pushes me do the better in school when I feel like giving up, I think about how in order to get the job I want, I need to do well in school.
Lastly is relatedness, this is the sense of belonging and connecting with others. Having a good relationship with others is important but also relates to school in a way. Having a close relationship with my family and friends has really had a positive impact on my success in college so far. They all have motivated me to do better in school and help me whenever I need it. Without their motivation I would be harder to have so much determination.
I chose this picture because I think relatedness is the most important thing for me. So far my family and even friends have had the biggest impact on my success in college. They have also pushed me to do better.

After reviewing exam and going over my answers I got incorrect I now understand why I got them wrong and the correct answer. I used the notes to find the correct answers to the five questions I missed. A couple days before the exam I looked over all the notes I had taken from chapter 1-4 and printed off the study guide to make sure I knew all of the important information. I highlighted all of the information on my notes that I saw on the study guide. This feedback will help me in the future with exams because I now know to make sure to carefully review all of the content on the study guide and my notes before taking the exam.

I chose these words based on the personality test. I also asked my mom for words she would use to describe me and these were some of them. After completing the NEO I scored low for “n”, average for “e” and “o”, and high for “a” and “c”. These results matched perfectly with my personality.

This is a picture of my books for this semester. This semester is a little different for me as it probably is for most people. I don’t have a picture of me on campus because all of my classes are online this semester.
One important life value that is important to me is to have strong relationships with people. Having a strong relationship with the people closes to me in my life has always been important to me. This life value is especially important to my career pursuits as a licensed clinical social worker because it is very important to build positive relationships as a social worker. Maintaining a positive relationship with a client as an LCSW helps a person or family feel more comfortable with you and makes it easier to understand and help them with their problems.
I have decided to continue onto higher education so I can eventually get a good-paying job that I love. I have anyways loved helping people which led me to want to become an LCSW and becoming a licensed clinical social worker requires a higher education. I also made this decision to be able to give the best life to the family I will one day have. I have been so incredibly lucky to have parents that support me in this decision to continue on with school and will also help me pay for it.
