Core Observations

The core classes I observed in were Mr. Fetterman’s 7th grade history class and Mr. Jucksch’s 7th grade math class. In history, the students were learning about the leaders of the Progressive Era, and their main activity was a Socratic seminar bracket based upon some of the leaders of that era. A takeaway from this class giving students the opportunity to talk amongst each other no matter what the topic is, and I could definitely use this activity in a health classroom. In math, the students were learning about slope-intercept form, and their main activity was matching up different flash cards that make up one equation based upon a graph. This is an activity I could definitely take away from his lesson and adapt it into a physical education classroom with different skills in different sports. I chose these two subjects because they were both recommended by my clincal faculty and these are two subject areas I have a familiarity with.
