Assignment 4 was a very fun assignment to do in my opinion. Everyone goes through relationships and everyone looks for different things in their relationships. To do this assignment we were required to do a questionnaire and then at the end, the results would show if we were high or low in that specific kind of love. Little did I know there were six subscales of love. So, I completed the questionnaire, and then I did the math to get my results for each category and I have to say that I was shocked that the results were that accurate. I could not agree more with the results that I received. Doing this assignment enlightened me on a few things. I learned that there are different categories of love that represent different aspects of love like attraction or friendship. I also learned what kind of love I a high in which is what I basically need and what I am low in meaning my relationships can go without it. I have previously learned about love in a previous psych class taken, but we did a different questionnaire so learning about these categories was new for me but the relationship part of psychology is not a new subject for me. The previous thing I did was a love language quiz.
This assignment is personally related to me just based on the fact that everyone has relationships whether it is a friendship or a romantic one. As of right now, I am currently single, so this questionnaire helped me with knowing what love I am high and low in. I have had a previous relationship and I think that helped me with some of these answers. For example, my previous partner and I were best friends before getting romantically involved and I think friendship is a big deal in relationships, so that part of the questionnaire made it clear to me that I am high in that specific kind of love.
I chose this image because it is a picture of me and my previous partner. This relationship helped me answer a lot of the questions in the questionnaire and I am sure it influenced my results in some sort of way.

Assignment 3 was an interesting assignment to do because I have never heard some express themselves in the way that Michael Richards had done in his tirade. For the assignment, we were required to watch a short video that took place in the year 2006 and reflect on what we thought of the situation that had occurred. Doing the assignment gave me the knowledge that people aren’t always raised the same, there will be people out there that have a different view, and there will be people who go about situations in ways that I do not agree with I just have to deal with people accordingly. Doing this assignment and hearing the things that Richards had to say is one of the reasons why today we have so many groups being formed about racism. I have stated before that I am a student-athlete and being a student-athlete we have access to different things. After the things that happened in 2020, our ODU athletics decided to create a group that dealt with situations like these and there are a few members from each team in this committee and we have talks with educated people about the problems of racism that goes on in our society.
This assignment is relevant to me and my life because I am a person of color and we still deal with people who have the same views as Richards in today’s society. Given the world that we live in today, there have been different groups created to deal with the topic of racism. For example, there is a group called BLM, also known as, Black Lives Matter. And I think everyone’s life matters, but not everyone’s life in America right now has the same value.

I chose this image because it is a clear representation of what I believe in. I believe that everyone is equal and that we should all be treated the same no matter the skin color. When I look at others I see no color I like to get to know a person within and I think everyone should have the same view.

Assignment 2 was a fun assignment to do because I love looking at photos. For the assignment, we were required to go through photos in our media gallery and reflect on what the photo represents and how it shows how we are. I chose photos that represented me as a sister, friend, daughter, granddaughter, athlete, and pet lover. Doing the assignment and focusing on photos of me gave me a better understanding of how people view me when they see these photos. I do something similar to this when it comes to being an ODU student-athlete advisory committee member. In SAAC there are different committees, and I happen to be in the social media committee, and we run the SAAC’s Instagram account. Being on this committee means I have to choose different photos to post all the different sports to post on the page to follow. I find this similar to the assignment because we choose the best photos and things to post that we feel represents ODU athletics well.
This assignment is personally relevant because, as stated before, I am a big picture person, and I care what other people think of me, and they come to these conclusions from photos sometimes. So this was a good opportunity to self-reflect on how photos represent me as a person, in my opinion. This assignment made me think of how I think of myself and what kind of person I want other people to think I am.
I chose this photo of me because it shows me in a comfortable setting. I feel that looking at this photo represents how I am easy-going and friendly, and that is how I want to be portrayed as a person.

Assignment 1 was a very interesting assignment. We had to read a couple of pages that were uploaded onto blackboard, and it gave us an understanding of what heuristics are and how they work in psychology. While doing the first assignment, I learned a lot of new information that I never knew about, but I did daily. The four different heuristics have occurred in my life on many different occasions. I have learned some of this information previously; for example, in AP psychology, I recall learning about the representative heuristic. It stuck with me because I did not realize that I did that heuristic every day, multiple times a day.
Out of the four heuristics, the most interesting one to me is the status quo heuristic. This is interesting to me because I did not know that I do this with certain things. I am that one person that always has to get the new I-phone without knowing what it does or how it is better than the one that I already have. I just need to get the I-phone because it is supposedly better, and it is just nice to have something new. I have been doing this since I was twelve years old, so I have been doing this heuristic for the past eight years unknowingly. The picture I chose for my visual representation is the new I-phone 11 vs. the I-phone XR, and I chose this picture because, yes, the new I-phone has more cameras on it. Still, I do not understand each camera’s functions or even if the new one is better than the XR when they have the same functions.
