I have selected my discourse community reflection as one of my informal writing examples. I chose this article because I learned a lot about discourse community and how important it is when writing or analyzing papers. This reflection was based on my reading of an article that discussed discourse communities and the role they play in every day life especially as readers in the college community.

Learning about discourse communities will help me significantly in the future as an educator especially when choosing reading for students and making sure the reading is directed to the audience and readers that I want it to be. This will also help me as a further writer to know that not every paper I write has to be for a large audience and that you can write to one audience and grasp their understandings. Word choice is also crucial when discussing discourse communities.
