The purpose of my teaching portfolio is to present my teaching philosophy. This philosophy reflects my beliefs concerning learning and teaching. My teaching philosophy has been developed throughout my UTA experience. As the name implies, a UTA or undergraduate teaching assistant is an undergrad college student who assists a professor throughout the semester with various coursework responsibilities such as grading assignments and providing students with feedback. I have chosen to be a UTA because I believe this experience would be valuable in my future career as a school psychologist. School psychology blends elements of psychology and education. Considering this unique aspect of school psychology, it is imperative that I have first-hand experience with the education process. As stated previously, my career goals are to become a school psychologist. I decided on this goal because I find the learning aspect of psychology fascinating. I also want to have a positive impact on the younger generation. I plan to achieve this goal by succeeding in my course work and doing anything I can to strengthen my chances of getting accepted into a school psychology graduate program.
