The problems behind information warfare run deep. There are issues at every level, from end-users, to platforms, to companies, and so on. Trying to combat online information campaigns would be difficult to accomplish in an effective and fair way. The goals of these bots align with the goals of online trolls and so it might be hard to identify which an account is. Because of the nature of accounts on social media there is no good way to allow only ‘real people’ to report behavior as old accounts can be stolen. I feel like the problems are only going to get worse, and we may have to rely on older information sources like books.
