In cybersecurity, hypothesis testing is used when specialists evaluate suspicious activity and develop and test assumptions about potential threats. Penetration testing allows for assessing system vulnerabilities like scientific tests do. Evidence-driven cybersecurity advancements use incident reports and forensic data to influence tactics. In addition, modeling and prediction are used to identify potential threats. Collaboration and peer review are critical in both sectors, as cybersecurity professionals share threat data to build defenses. Cybersecurity, like science, is continually evolving, requiring constant adjustments to rising threats and vulnerabilities.
