Can you spot three fake websites and compare the three fake websites to three real websites, plus showcase what makes the fake websites fake?
Three fake websites include “TiffanyCoShop.com”, “Sheingivesback.com”, and “Luvasti.com”. The first website is a fake version of “tiffany.com” and attempts to lure consumers via web/domain spoofing. Like the first, the second website uses web spoofing and the HTTP protocol rather than HTTPS, as this allows information to be sent in plaintext. Finally, the last website is a scam website that presents itself as legit but does not send its products (e-commerce fraud). Three legit websites are google.com, amazon.com, and bestbuy.com. The most prominent differences between real and fake websites are the domain names, the protocol used, and the website reviews. Legit websites often use HTTPS instead of HTTP as it Is more secure and encrypted; also, the domain name, reviews, and website layout are professional and verifiable. Fake websites use HTTP, web spoofing, or arbitrary domain names and look suspicious. If these criteria have been met, the last resort is to check the site reviews on a legitimate website to verify validity if skepticism persists.
