About me
Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
My name is Adebusola Idowu. I am undergraduate at Old dominion university in Norfolk VA. I am studying criminal justice and I am part of the CJS org( Criminal justice organization), to organize clubs, fundraisers which was able to build my experience towards the law department. I want more exposure for my criminal law and justice education. I loved working with different kinds of people to be more exposed and knowledgeable. I also volunteered in the intercultural and interracial program for freshman. As an African, I found it a bit challenging to fit into the American culture so I like making people around me very comfortable. I never give up, failure to me is another shot and not a waste. I am very hardworking and i know how to work under any circumstance and I am a very last learner.
proyecto-1-pdfYou know, I am American but of African decent. So honestly I was never really educated on Hispanic culture. I mean I knew the basics but other that I pretty much knew nothing. I figured that in Spanish speaking countries they don’t speak the same dialect but they speak a lot of other dialect. Most of us don’t know nothing about these countries just that they speak Spanish. Most of them stay in the house past 18. They usually live in the same house till they get married.
Where I’m from in Africa, the poverty level is high there are lots of sick kids and people who make the bare minimum for a living. which is sad. I used to go back home with the QSE foundation which is actually owned by a family member. It was to give out to the homeless, whatever we could. food, books, cutleries, clothes, basically anything we could. I started it at a young age because of my mom. she thought me to always gives to the homeless and never be stingy. though I never really had lots of money but I still gave whatever I could and knew that I didn’t need anymore. It might not be a lot but it is something, I guess it’s better than nothing

Resume
This video below is about different cultures and holidays are celebrated. This video was a video I used in one of my discussion boards in my Spanish 101 class. which I found particularly interesting but it was hard for some reason. I have never celebrated any holiday in a Spanish country and honestly I would love it. This video gave me a bit of an understanding how various holidays are celebrated. In Africa especially when I am from we do not really celebrate holiday so I was really all out learning about other cultures.
Presentational speaking normally is always difficult for me in Spanish because of my pronunciation, I don’t have the Spanish tongue I would love to have but I try my best. Proyecto 3 in Spanish 101 especially was hard for me because I was trying to explain the campus what I like and love so putting those sentences together was a bit difficult but It was nice to try it out and know where your weak point is and getting better for this class.

Presentational Writing
I was to write about mi favorita which I learned in Spanish 101. it was a difficult one for me because of all the words. but it was really good for me to become better
Oral assignments are a bit challenging for me because i am sure how it is going to go, honestly it is very hard for me. I never took Spanish in high school so constructing an essay in spans 101 was a bit challenging but i really enjoyed mi favorite because all i had to do was talk about someone i like.
proyecto-5-pdfInterpretive Listening
This was the hardest thing ever listening to a song you know nothing about. This was my favorite song as a child.
Dime, was my favorite song as a kid. The rhyme was amazing. I never really need understanding what they were saying though I knew it was a love song but the lyrics were not so easy. Taking this spanish class helps me because a couple of days ago, i went back to listen to the song and i had way more clues than i did before even though i did not know everything.
Interpretive Reading
I did a reading earlier today about covid-19 in other countries to know what is happening all around the world. Though it is not in class, it was educating to know what was happening in other places.
Normally, I hate readings especially when it is boring but somehow I have always loved Spanish speaking countries that was one of the reasons I took this class. It was nice to understand part of news without having to look at a dictionary. I know I have a lot to learn but I know how to construct a few sentences and that is a big step for me
