Ids 493

Reflective paper

During my time at Old Dominion University I have been fortunate to acquire several skills related to my career field that will undoubtedly come in handy in the future. Being at Old Dominion University has not only been enjoyable, but it has also prepared me for a future profession in cyber security. Throughout my degree program, I learnt many valuable skills that will be critical for success in such competitions and in the field as whole but one that I particularly cherish is working with various softwares and virtual laboratories. I learned this in my Cyse 407 class, where I had to follow guidelines and complete virtual labs.

Reflecting on my time at college I’ve had several useful learning experiences, but the one I consider to be the most valuable is critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Attending Old Dominion University has helped me improve my critical thinking and problem-solving skills by forcing me to study complicated situations from multiple angles and construct well-reasoned arguments. I encountered a variety of challenges, including time management issues and difficulties in certification training. To address these challenges, I sought help from instructors, students, and academic counselors, who offered advice, resources, and encouragement. I also used strategies like making timetables, breaking down activities into smaller steps, and requesting clarification from my professors when I encountered issues. Drawing on previous courses and experiences gave me a good foundation for developing my talents and navigating the program’s hurdles. Overall, conquering these difficulties not only improved my academic ability but also instilled tenacity and determination, both of which are necessary for success in college and beyond.

Ids 493 is a class that teaches students how to create an electronic portfolio where they can include things like academic study, professional experiences, skill identification, and work products. The most significant concept I learned in this session was how to create an Eportfolio where I can include all of my information, making it easy for future jobs. I believe I did a great job developing my Eportfolio and making it visually appealing and easy to explore. If someone had to look at only one thing on my Eportfolio, it would be my résumé page, which has everything about me. The most difficult part of the course was figuring out how to accomplish certain things on my Eportfolio website, but I was able to watch some YouTube videos that helped me figure out how to overcome those obstacles. I believe I can improve my Eportfolio by providing more detail, but that is the only flaw I notice.

Throughout my academic career, interdisciplinary approaches and theories helped me better understand my schoolwork. By combining thoughts from multiple fields, I was able to get a more comprehensive understanding of complex issues and occurrences. For example, in my environmental science class, I made links between biology, chemistry, and sociology to better understand environmental challenges and their societal consequences. Being an interdisciplinary thinker in my field of study is critical because it allows me to approach problems and difficulties from several perspectives, encouraging creativity and innovation. My next step once i graduate from Old Dominion University this spring will be to look for a job in my field and look towards earning my masters degree.
