Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?
My mind has been set on cybersecurity for a long time now, I first decided to pursue this field when I was barely a teenager. I have always had an affinity for technology and I even built my first PC when I was twelve years old. The idea of coding, using programs, and being a part of the community fascinated me immensely. Now I am a part of a cyber unit in the army and my fascination only increased. The applications of different techniques and the immense amount of knowledge is something I’ve tried to take in as much as possible. I work with some of the most intelligent individuals in the state, who have shown me basic things such as python, kali linux, and different applications that do really interesting things. I find the cyber warfare aspect very interesting but the cybersecurity aspect is what intrigues me the most. I envision myself in the future working for a company like CACI or maybe a technology company such as Microsoft performing cybersecurity tasks for a living, in maybe even just a few years time. I believe this class will aid me immensely in achieving these goals I have set for myself. The technology of this field interests me because its fascinating seeing how individuals come up with solutions to the ever growing problems surrounding cybersecurity. It can be technical, but a lot of the time it ends up being social engineering to gain access to user credentials which should be private. One of my prior classes had us watching podcasts and real life tellings of people who have dealt with this issues and it only pressed my curiosity more than before. I am interested in seeing the technological advancements in the field and also see how people have changed in their reactions to such cyber threats.
