Never Know what you can do in the health field till you try!

My Summary :
- What inspired you to get into your current field? She was looking for a career change.
- How did you get to this current job position and what path did you take? – She applied for the position and had many different varieties and tasks to do and has been at her job for 30 years now.
- What are your basic roles and responsibilities? She is also responsible for gathering volunteer information and volunteers and finding people who are willing to give back to their community.
- Would you describe your work environment as sustainable/climate-friendly? She says both her work environment is sustainable/climate-friendly because her work focuses on satisfaction of the patients and their families but also the employees that work there.
5. Do you think sustainable climate-friendly practices are important in the work environment? She said yes and that there are goals set for them by their administration. She says they all agree that the goals are valuable.
6. In your work environment, are there any measures or programs in place to practice sustainable measures? If yes, Would you please describe? She said yes, one of the process that her job has in place is called employee rounding , the leader does check in’s to see how the employee is doing and if they have all of the resources they need for their job.
7.What are the barriers to more sustainable practices in the work environment? She said when the patient’s census becomes really high they have to go to other departments that may need help. For example, the ER has lots of patients coming seeking care all at once, then you have to find out what unit they will go to or what surgery they will need if needed.
8. Do you have specific recommendations for more sustainable practices that could be adopted in your work environment? She Said No She thinks that they are good where they are right now.
9.What is your favorite (or most rewarding) aspect about the job? She said one of the most rewarding aspects about her job is the volunteer’s . She is impressed with their desire to help many people and they lack selflessness. She says they have a true passion for what they do.
10. What is the most surprising aspect of your career ? She said when she was in college she did not dream of going into health care at all. Her idea was to work in a corporate setting as a social worker and work in her community. She said she has been in health care for over 30 years and loves it. She says it’s so rewarding.
11. What is the most challenging aspect of your career? She Said the most challenging thing is that she does not have enough volunteers and she can not pick enough because some people are scared to go back because of covid 19.
12. What advice would you give to someone getting into the health field? The advice she gave was that she thinks that it is important to know what you want to do and that it depends on what your dream is. She said that it is important to get hands-on experience and go out and volunteer so you can know if you want to do this or not.
Something you have learned/taken away from this interview. During my Interview I learned that it is ok to change what you want to do because there are many different jobs in the health field.
