Writing Reflection One

I came into UNIV 150 a very unsure writer and I knew I made mistakes when writing essays. The mistakes I constantly were getting marked and docked points included; misusing commas, sentence fragments, informal errors, paper structuring, and grammar. Throughout the first part of this semester I continued to see these errors show up in my returned journals and even on the first draft of my first essay. The mistake I made the most and it showed up on all my turned it work was misusing the commas. I plan on watching videos and possibly even asking for tutoring to help me fix this problem in my writing. I made it a goal to slow down my writing and start to catch a lot of the simple mistakes in my writing before I turn work in, and as the weeks continue, I will see how I’ll do with doing this. I do feel as though I’ve already come a long way in these first few weeks. I’ve learned a lot from my peers during in class peer reviews and I really enjoy these because talking and discussing work with classmates is sometimes easier than with a professor. Also, I really did enjoy and learn a lot from my one on one with my professor during her office hours on my first essay. We discussed and talked about the draft of my first essay and in the discussion she really broke a lot of the mistakes down that I made in the paper and with it being just her and I it was easier to understand and take in all the information she was giving me. In the upcoming weeks I’m hoping to have less punctuation errors and grammar errors in my journal and in my 2nd essay that’s upcoming.
