In the presentation “What does a Cybersecurity Analyst Do?” (2021) Nicole Enesse highlights social themes and behaviors that are required of the Cybersecurity professional in today’s work environment. The social skills of communication, collaboration and self-marketing are central themes in the video describing the job of a cybersecurity analyst.
Social skills on communication are needed from those aspiring to become cybersecurity analysts. Although the job title may change, as Nicole Enesse describes, the requirement for communication skills is similar across the board. Cybersecurity professionals will have to work with people to prevent phishing, provide cybersecurity training and work well with a team.
Social skills are also needed in applying for work as a cybersecurity professional and becoming an attractive job candidate. Enesse notes that jobs are often looking for flexible candidates that are willing to work nontraditional shifts. In gaining experience for desired roles, it is also important for professionals to have good social skills in networking, as the cybersecurity field is competitive despite having a lot of demand. Good communications skills are also needed to market oneself effectively by communicating their skills well in a resume.
The Cybersecurity field is a lucrative field that demands not only technical understanding and skill but proficiency in social skills. By understanding the above theme of social skill requirements, Cybersecurity professionals can better prepare themselves for desired employment in the cybersecurity industry.
