This was my very first conversation on TalkAbroad and even though it was a little rough initially, I believe it went really well overall.

The conversation started off a little rough at first. My partner talked quite fast however, she did use her hands and gestured to what she was trying to talk about to help me understand when I was having some trouble. We went through the necessary topics quickly and thoroughly. Once we got through all the questions we moved on to questions she had for me and some I had for her. We talked about our favorite movies and music genres. She told me about how she lived on a farm in southern France. We talked about how both of our favorite movies are from a film company titled Studio Ghibli. She also talked about how her favorite Disney movie is Mulan and she got very excited when I told her I have a leopard gecko named Mushu from the movie. I learned that her favorite foods are donuts, pizza, and cheese and I found out she especially loves the goat cheese she makes herself. 

Overall I had an amazing time talking to my partner and I quickly got comfortable with speaking French over English. I got so comfortable with it that I found myself having a mildly hard time switching back to English after our time was up. My sister was very confused when I tried to tell her how amazing the meeting went in French. During the conversation, I was able to learn that while I struggle with reading and writing in French, Speaking and listening to French comes almost as naturally to me as English does even though I did have to look up a few words I had yet to learn how to say in French. This lovely experience has made me very excited for the next TalkAbroad assignment
