Prompt: Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?

I became interested in technology at a very young age. I started with game consoles as an adolescent, and in middle school I discovered Minecraft which has a built in logic system. I learned about logic gates and the fundamentals of computers during that time in middle school with Minecraft, and I expanded upon that Computer Science and Engineering knowledgebase in High School by participating in the robotics program every year and taking an intro to C++ class. Computers just always fascinated me, and when I was old enough I was allowed to explore the Internet.

The Internet is literally another world; my generation has access to a plethora of information that older generations did not have the opportunity to embrace to the degree we are able to. I don’t think it can be understated the near-limitless capabilities that Information Technology (IT) and the Internet have facilitated. But with these capabilities comes immense risk; IT and the Internet has made both good and bad practices more efficient. This begs the questions of how will we secure these systems?

I did not hear about Cybersecurity until I came to college; I was walking back to my dorm talking with a friend I had just made on campus and we asked each others majors. He was and still is a Cybersecurity major and told me all about it, I later did more research and decided that Cybersecurity would be a good career path to continue my technological education in a way that interested me. I have also spoken with many local government employees around Virginia, and all tell me that they need people for Cybersecurity.

So Cybersecurity seems like a safe career path that will only keep growing, and I am very interested in basically all topics related to Cybersecurity, from the technical aspect to the psychological and sociological aspect, and everything in between. It honestly just seemed like the perfect path for me all around.
