Cybersecurity Analysts and Social Behavior

When looking at the role of a cybersecurity analyst, they are typically the first line of defense in terms of cybersecurity. They deal with mostly phishing attacks, they analyze the network for intrusions, help develop cyber awareness training, and conduct research on new hacking techniques and current vulnerabilities. This relates to social behavior in multiple ways. Firstly, phishing attacks are hacking the human. The person launching the attack will study someone and base this attack around the person, making the attack more likely to succeed. Their are multiple ways an analyst could stop these attacks, but the most important is through cyber awareness. This will make employees for the corporation they work at more informed about these types of attacks. Another major aspect of a security analyst is research. This is crucial in cybersecurity because most hackers are script kiddies. Being able to identify which types of attacks are more active during a specific time could help ensure your company is proactive. You will also need to research and stay current on current CVE’s. Firstly, random vulnerabilities appear out of no where, and you never know which vulnerability will impact your network. This last two examples tie into social behavior, because you are analyzing trends within a certain subset of society in order to predict potential attacks.
