Response to Social Cybersecurity

This article provides many real concerns that you can see in our modern world. With multiple conflicts throughout the world, countries will look to distort the reality of the situation in order to create conflict within competing nations in order to weaken the trust with the countries leadership and their military. With the use of social media, a foreign adversary could easily distort the truth to shape their own false narratives, while also misdirecting those using various techniques. This can result in fewer legitimate information outlets, while creating a massive following for false information. This creates a unique situation because the entire point of these types of attacks are to create distrust between the people, and the government. This would allow the people to disregard the warning of false information because they do not trust those who are fact checking this information. This creates an internal problem within the country, which could result in massive conflicts within their borders, creating the perfect opportunity for enemies to launch physical attacks. With all of this being said, government agencies and the DoD need to continually create strategies that help source information to ensure their citizens are receiving the correct information while still fostering trust with these agencies.
