Professional Sports Penpal
Oh my…
This assignment was one of the hardest challenges in my life for me. No idea why. I was struggling for months to be able to find a penpal for this project, everybody that I reached out to; including managers, coaches, broadcasters on the collegiate, semi-pro and professional levels, and many others in multiple areas of sports media, did not give a single response to my messages.
Though this was very, and I mean very disheartening, I kept on pursuing a penpal for this assignment. Finally, I decided to reach out to my own high school alumni community. I reached out on instagram to a Cape Henry Graduate, Randolph College Alumni, and new head coach of women’s lacrosse at Randolph College, Prince Charles.
After some waiting period, Prince Charles reached back out to me and agreed to be my penpal for this assignment. He stated he would be “happy to help someone from his community.”.
Having someone like Prince Charles being my penpal, this is very inspiring, due to the fact that he is coming directly from the path that I would like to pursue. Charles has worked his way from a player, to a high school coach, assistant college coach, to a head coach in the NCAA. Having someone like Charles as my penpal allows me to study the path he took and follow in his footsteps to meet my own goals that are similar to his.
