The principles of science relate to cybersecurity by making sure research and policy
in the field is accurate and ethical. While cybersecurity is not researching a “hard
science,” it is still connected to studies on the behaviors of hackers, employees, and the
usage of technology to monitor and gather data on individuals. Parsimony, empiricism,
skepticism, and relativism all ensure that any research related to the cybersecurity field
follows scientific values and obtains the most accurate data possible. Objectivity, ethical
neutrality, and determinism can help make sure that the data is gathered in ethical
manners and implemented in ethical ways. The principles of science help answer
controversial, morally grey questions on data gathering and monitoring potential criminals.
