Cybersecurity researchers could use the information on PrivacyRights.org to study data
breaches by looking through the website’s archive of past breaches, company responses to
breaches, and legal responses to breaches. The website would be a major assisting tool in data
breach research because the information is already filtered and sorted in many ways. Information
like the types of breaches, how many breaches are committed each year, and how many breaches
are committed in each state are already sorted. Beyond the data breaches themself, the website
also records and explains laws such as the California Senate Bill 1386 that were created to
respond to data breaches and prevent future ones. Between the massive records of data breaches
and the responses to them, the site has a wide variety of easily accessible information.
