A major takeaway I had from the article is how the ideas of social cybersecurity increase in severity and methods when going from discussing it in an organizational or business context to a government or military context. All the core ideas of taking advantage of distrust or overly trusting people, spreading misinformation, and relying on human social weakness still apply but in much more widespread ways. The military threats of social cybersecurity warfare grow from the social cybersecurity attacks in everyday life and the psychology and sociology surrounding it. The “hybrid warfare” and BEND strategies are complex and multi-layered but on the simplest levels are escalations of the attacks and methods spear phishers and disinformation spreaders use.
