Maslow’s first stage, physiological, has become much easier to access with modern
technology. Food delivery services like UberEats or Grubhub have made it easier for people to
access food and water, while services like Airbnb and amazon provide digital ways for shelter
and clothing, respectively. Technology also provides safety, allowing for easier ways to contact
emergency services and research the safety of various activities and products. Social Media apps
and dating apps provide new ways to connect with and meet friends, family, and romantic
partners necessary for the love and belonging stage. The esteem stage is also affected by social
media, as many now tie their identity and worth in with how many people follow them online or
publicly posting their achievements. Lastly, self-actualization has become easier because
technology provides new ways to learn thousands of different skills with one search.
