Assignment Description: “Can you spot three fake websites and compare the three fake websites to three real websites, plus showcase what makes the fake websites fake? Note: Don’t generate/access or click on any unwanted/fake websites on your web browsers. Showcase with examples, what makes the fake websites fake.”

Fake Example 1: bedbathclose .com

This website can be identified as fake because of the popup ads, small number of menu options, and basic website layout. Additionally, any stock left over from Bed Bath & Beyond would be sold directly from the company itself or to other major retail competitors, not a small new website.

Real Example 1: 

Fake Example 2: walofficals .com

This site can be identified as a fake website scam because it pretends to be Walmart without having the domain name of a Walmart website, has inconsistent capitalization in the headings and the last header lacks spaces, showing improper grammar and a lack of editing. 

Real Example 2:

Fake Example 3: pay-pail .com

This website can be detected as a fake because it tries to trick the user into believing it is PayPal while the domain name clearly is a knock off titled “pay-pail”. The site also asks for both email and password at the same time, while the actual PayPal website asks for them separately to detect if an account with the attached email exists first before asking for password.
