About Me

My name is Lauren Jacobs and I am currently in my third year of college at Old Dominion University. I am working towards obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. One of my current academic goals is to complete this degree with a high GPA. I plan to move onto a Master’s degree in Art Therapy after graduating as I am interested in having my own practice that caters towards children and adults on the spectrum. I am taking this course in order to fulfill one of the necessary requirements for my degree, while also expanding my knowledge of social cognition. I have always been interested in psychology growing up as I watched my father battle with his mental health when I was young and seeing my close, younger cousin struggle with his diagnosis of being on the spectrum. As it was difficult during these times to see my loved ones suffer from not getting the help they needed, it influenced me to learn more about their difficulties and how to better help them and others like them. Seeing now that both of them have gotten the care, resources, and help that they needed, gave me hope in soon being able to help others create and live fulfilling and sustainable lives.
