Overall, I enjoyed the Career Connections event. I met with all the employers present, including Sentara, NASA’s Office of the Inspector General, and Aermor. I most enjoyed speaking to the Naval Information Warfare Center and found their NREIP program of great interest. I am currently in the process of applying for this upcoming summer. I also enjoyed speaking to LightGrid LLC, which was the first organization I interacted with. Apex Systems also had a very interesting mission, which aimed to help students find internships and build their careers. In general, internship programs are paid and act as mentorship/learning opportunities for those entering the cybersecurity field. Interns will have some choice in relation to the type and scope of projects that they will work on during their employment. Most are also during school breaks, namely summer, and are about 10 hours of work per week.

Overall, the most important things I gained from this experience were potential connections and experience in presenting myself professionally.
