As an AT, I would work with athletes to prevent injuries, help them recover from injuries, and ensure they are in top physical condition to perform at their best. This role involves hands-on work in injury rehabilitation, conditioning, and maintaining the overall health of athletes, which deeply excites me. I also explored other career paths, like real estate and exercise specialist roles, and while they all involve helping others, the role of an AT resonates most with me because of my interest in physical health and sports.

Through my research, I found job postings for Certified Athletic Trainers that require a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, certification, and at least one year of experience. The skills needed for this role include problem-solving, documenting patient assessments, and providing treatment plans—all of which are crucial for working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. I have developed problem-solving skills in past roles, such as when I worked as a camp counselor, where I had to think quickly to ensure the safety and well-being of the kids. However, I am still working on improving my documentation skills, something that I plan to develop further through my coursework and shadowing experienced professionals in the field. I’m also gaining more hands-on experience through internships and volunteer work, which will help me build the practical skills necessary for a career as an AT.

While I also find real estate appealing because of my interest in homes and design, I am most drawn to the Athletic Trainer role. I’m excited about the opportunity to help athletes stay healthy, recover from injuries, and get back to doing what they love. Moving forward, I will continue building the necessary skills, gaining experience, and focusing on my studies to make this dream a reality.

My dream job is to become a Certified Athletic Trainer (AT), and after researching various career options, I’ve found that this aligns with my passion for sports and health.
