Factors   Influencing   the   Formation   of   Intellectual Security among University Students: A Field Study

1. Link Between Topic and Social Sciences Principles

Social Sciences, this topic relates to the intersection of social influences (Family, Media, University) on students thinking and decision-making. It examines socialization (the acquisition of values and ideas from other people) and identity formation in university settings, which are two key concepts within sociology/psychology.

2. Research questions or hypotheses

The study poses three key research questions:

What are the determinants of intellectual security among university students?

What are the effects of gender and academic level on intellectual security – Do gender (male vs. female) and educational level (bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate) influence intellectual security?

Do students differ (statistically) in ratings of these factors if you cross-tabulate by gender and academic level?

3. Research Methodology Types Behind the Research

This implies a cross-sectional approach and employs quantitative research, as the data are based on surveys. Using a purposive sampling technique, the sample consisted of students on two university sites (Batna 2 in Algeria, and the University of Jordan).

4. Data and Analysis Type

The research used quantitative data and had a survey-based design. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics to study the relationship between intellectual security and some variables such as gender and education level.

5. Relation of the article with concepts from the PowerPoint presentations

The article deals with social influences, socialization, and media literacy, which directly connects to numerous PowerPoint presentation concepts. Both focus on the importance of education, critical thinking, and how, through the process of digital media, people’s beliefs and ideas are constructed.

6. Place of the Subject in challenges, issues and contributions by a marginalized group

The study briefly comments on the marginalized groups (like students belonging to lower socio-economic sections of the society) possibly making them more susceptible to media or ideological control. This underscores the need to help marginalized students develop intellectual security through critical media literacy as a means of learning how to better navigate information.

7. General Contributions of the Study to Society

The study adds to our understanding by emphasizing the importance of critical thinking and digital literacy skills in education that could enable students to be more discerning consumers of information. It advises universities to enhance such skills for the protection of intellectual security, particularly in an era of new media, while also aiding all students, including those from historically marginalized groups.
