CYSE 201
Journal Entry #1
The NICE Workforce Framework provides comprehensive structure for acknowledging and
understanding the many roles and competencies that make up the cybersecurity workforce. It
includes a number of categories, each with specific responsibilities and tasks, such as
Cybersecurity Management, Operational, and Technical domains.
As for a career focus, the Technical industry is really intriguing and particularly appealing to me.
This category covers positions such as Cybersecurity Analysts and Engineers, who work directly
with the technology and techniques that safeguard information systems. These professions
frequently include hands-on problem solving, vulnerability assessments, and incident response,
which aligns with my desire to work in realistic, evolving circumstances where I can have a
direct impact on cybersecurity outcomes. In contrast, the Cybersecurity Management area, while
vital, may be less intriguing to me. While the strategic and administrative components of
management roles are vital, they may not satisfy my desire for direct technical engagement and
troubleshooting.
In conclusion, the Technical part of the NICE Workforce Framework best fits my career goals
due to its hands-on nature and direct impact on cybersecurity. As far as the Management area of
cybersecurity, while important, it is less enticing due to its emphasis on strategics rather than
technical work
