Journal entry 9

I only received a “Yes” on item 5 (Displacement) on the Social Media Disorder Scale, which indicates that I occasionally put off other pursuits like hobbies or schoolwork because of social media distractions. Although I don’t fit the bill for social media addiction overall, this occurs when I want to postpone crucial duties. The scale gauges behaviors like conflict, retreat, and preoccupation, yet I don’t have any of those problems. Due to social expectations, cultural differences, and differing degrees of technology access, social media addiction manifests itself in different ways worldwide. For example, social media use may be higher in areas with greater internet access, and social media usage can be influenced by cultural values and economic circumstances.
