Digital Forensics | Davin Teo, in the TEDx video, has highlighted that digital forensics is in fact deeply connected to social sciences. In order to determine evidence and piece together various information, a digital forensics investigator needs to understand the behavior, motives, and social interactions of humans. Teo’s journey toward such a career reflects the importance of critical thinking and problem-solving, skills central to the social sciences. He examines patterns of behavior in the digital space, similar to sociologists or psychologists who research human interactions.

I found it more interesting where Teo specified how technology and human behavior actually intersect in solving cases because of the digital footprints left by intentions and acts. His career is a good example of the role social sciences play in adapting to current challenges like cybercrime, applying concepts derived from criminology, sociology, and even psychology to digital settings. Interdisciplinary in nature, this field of digital forensics appeals, since it brings into view aspects of science, technology, and social inquiry.
