Hello, my name is Jaiden McCoy, and I am from New Kent, VA. Graduating with an advanced diploma from New Kent High School, I also proudly earned my Associates Degree Cum Laude from Rappahannock Community College. When not immersed in academics, I indulge in a diverse array of passions. My passion for travel has allowed me to see many parts of the world and has expanded my knowledge of diverse viewpoints and civilizations. My love of painting allows me to express my creativity and provides a meditative escape from the stresses of everyday life. Basketball and volleyball have long been fixtures in my life, both as enjoyable pastimes and avenues for personal growth. My journey has been marked by achievements both on and off the court. As a member of the volleyball and basketball teams in high school, I garnered numerous awards at both state and regional levels, a testament to my dedication and skill. Transitioning to college, I seized opportunities to engage with my community through extracurricular activities. Serving on the Street Team for Ebony Impact and contributing to the Student Government Association as a Senator have allowed me to channel my energy into meaningful initiatives that make a difference. Complementing my academic and extracurricular endeavors, I embarked on a journey of professional development through diverse work experiences. From my tenure at Vinterra Golf Course, where I honed my customer service skills and gained insights into the hospitality industry, to my roles at Rosie’s Gaming Emporium and Fields Protective Services, where I embraced the responsibilities of leadership and cultivated essential workplace competencies, each opportunity has been instrumental in shaping my professional trajectory. These experiences have not only equipped me with practical skills but have also instilled in me a profound understanding of the dynamics of the workplace and the importance of adaptability and resilience in the face of challenges. I was initially motivated to study electrical engineering at Old Dominion University because I was fascinated by how complex technology is and how it has the power to change the world. But it was in college that I developed a new interest in cybersecurity that would fundamentally change the trajectory of both my academic and professional career. After learning more about the complex subject of cybersecurity, I became fascinated with its multidisciplinary character and vital role in defending against cyberattacks and preserving digital infrastructure. This insight gave me a renewed sense of purpose and drive, driving me to pursue a career in cybersecurity where I can use my knowledge and abilities to have a significant effect.
