Discussion Board: Protecting Availability

Discussion Prompt:

What protections would you implement to ensure availability of your systems (and why)?

Response:

I think that the two main protections I would put in place would be tools put in place for preventing data loss, and redundancy in data. I would use tools for preventing data loss because it can shield data against theft or fraud. Threat blocking, monitoring, and forensic analysis are other data loss protection options. Redundancy in data is another option I would chose a protection device. Data backups should be stored on scattered networks. This will ensure that even if a storage component is degraded or malfunctions, the data won’t be lost forever. That’s why it is good to update your backups often to make sure your information is restored on the most recent version of data.
