Journal Prompt:

Complete the Social Media Disorder scale. How did you score? What do you think about the items on the scale? Why do you think that different patterns are found across the world?

Response:

For my Social Media Disorder scale, I answered one out of nine questions with the answer yes. I answered yes to trying to spend less time on social media and failed. I said this because I personally think I spend a lot of time on social media, but in today’s time, I think it is around the same amount or less than my generation. In today’s generation, social media is what we use on a daily basis not just for entertainment, but it could also be used for job opportunities. It is a way to market not just yourself, but a business you could have as well. I think that the items in the scale are good questions to ask someone because they aren’t everyday questions people ask themselves about social media. I think that different patterns are found across the world because technology isn’t used the same in every place we go. For example, a group’s social media could be guarded by a government, depending on the usage of social media in that area, etc. One thing with individuals in this world is that no one is the same so that can also cause the different patterns found across the world.
