Much of my work focused on supporting essential administrative processes that keep the program functioning efficiently. One of my tasks involved completing the Bank of America logs and Sam’s Club logs, which strengthened my attention to detail and helped me better understand how financial documentation supports program accountability.

I also participated in supervision with my preceptor, where I received guidance, feedback, and clarification on administrative workflows. These supervisory meetings were valuable in helping me learn how organizational decisions are made and how administrators prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

A significant portion of my time was also dedicated to calling references for potential new hires and preparing new hire forms and documents needed for interviews and meetings. Through these tasks, I gained hands-on experience with HR-related responsibilities and learned more about the hiring and onboarding process within a behavioral health organization.

One of my major contributions during this period was continuing to work on my resource project, which involved gathering and organizing community resources for substance abuse treatment, psychiatric care, and outpatient therapy. This project enhanced my research skills and expanded my understanding of service gaps and referral processes.

Other essential responsibilities included updating the Master Tracker with insurance authorizations and denials, sorting authorizations, uploading employee files to HR, and completing Medicaid verification checks. These tasks helped me see how insurance processes, documentation, and compliance influence the delivery of behavioral health services. I also listened in on staff meetings, which provided a broader view of program operations, communication strategies, and team collaboration.

Overall, the final 100 hours of my internship allowed me to apply my academic knowledge in real-world settings while gaining valuable administrative experience. These responsibilities strengthened my organizational skills, improved my understanding of behavioral health administration, and prepared me for future professional roles in the field.

During the final 100 hours of my internship with the Richmond Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) in the CReST program, my responsibilities expanded and allowed me to gain deeper insight into administrative operations within a behavioral health setting.
