One protection I would impose to keep the company’s systems available is installing surge protectors and uninterruptable power supplies. Surge protectors will prevent electronic systems from being damaged by dips and spikes of power. This will prevent company hardware from being inoperative so employees and consumers can’t access company systems. uninterruptable power supplies (UPS) provide a limited amount of power to work through short power outages which provide time to save data. UPS will ensure that company computers and critical network devices will stay online through outages.
Another protection I would implement is software and hardware firewalls. firewalls are used to block unwanted traffic like malicious communications or browsing inappropriate websites. Without these firewalls, hackers can control company devices to monitor or record company communications and data via the internet. Hackers manipulating company data will cause inconsistent availability of company systems. Also, Hackers can make company communications with other organizations and consumers unavailable which makes system availability inconsistent.
Lastly, I would implement consistent patching of operating systems and applications. Any operating system, firmware, or plugin installed in a system is vulnerable to cyber-attacks. The company will only install applications it needs and will keep them updated to improve functionality and correct security concerns. This will keep the available data up to date in the company’s systems.
