Human factors in cybersecurity refer to behaviors or occurrences that cause a data breach. These elements are primarily the product of human error or carelessness. To find a balance between employee training and additional cyber technology; we will need to establish a chart of all our technology that is out of date or needs assistants. While we also test our workers to see what level they are at to see if they’re in need of training. Then put together a chart of both workers’ and technology vulnerabilities to give us a foundation of what we need to focus both our funds and time into.
What are Human factors and how to reduce them?
“Human factors in cybersecurity refer to behaviors or occurrences that cause a data breach. These elements are primarily the product of ignorance, carelessness, or improper access control” (Cydef). Any business’s cybersecurity depends heavily on its human resources. Humans in cybersecurity are the first line of defense in a cybersecurity business whether that is small or large. Everyone makes mistakes, that’s what makes us human but we can have preventative measures to reduce this factor. We can implement cybersecurity awareness training once a month or every so often to test our workers’ levels and see where they need to improve so they don’t become a vulnerability. “The tenable possibility of dangers is introduced into your workers’ working lives through training and awareness initiatives. These programs frequently include live simulations that show potential threats and how staff members might respond”(Cydef).
In Conclusion
In cybersecurity, human factors are actions or circumstances that result in a data breach. These components are primarily the result of negligence or human error. We should create a chart of all our outdated or help-needed technologies in order to strike a balance between employee training and extra cyber technology. In addition, we test our employees to determine their skill level and whether further training is necessary. Then create a chart of technological and worker weaknesses to provide a foundation for where we should invest our time and money.
